What a few weeks it has been.
I have previously described the thoughts in my brain as an entire stadium of crazed fans trying to get out of two exits after a nail-biting win. Do you have similar experiences where either too many words come to mind or an influx of ideas occur at the same time? Have you wondered what to pursue first and ended up incidentally creating a situation akin to a bunch of dendrites crawling in all directions towards their targets too? Well, that's the situation here.
Cognitive development is such a timely series of events. Helping navigate the steps by researching therapies and reasons behind interventions seems urgent. At the same time, I know that the science will continue to be made available and that this learning journey blog is a long-term endeavor. I will get to invest a whole day catching up on some of the science this upcoming week at the Crnic Institute Down Syndrome Symposium. Look for highlights from the research day in the near future!
The majority of my available time recently has been devoted to another project related to our journey with Down syndrome. For those who know me in real life, you know that spiritual formation and discipleship are also big interests of mine. As I have wrestled through life events these past few years, an idea began to take shape in my heart and mind. I felt I needed to pursue it for my own learning and growth as a daughter of God, wife, and mother. The need to pursue this project further became stronger this summer.
The progress on this blog will continue to be a bit slower as I work towards the release of this second project: a fictional work on navigating life and faith after loss and diagnosis. My excitement has grown exponentially as I nervously shared the work with a couple of wise friends and solicited reactions and input. Click here to read a preview of the project, written in the style of C.S. Lewis' Screwtape Letters and incorporating wisdom from biblical counseling experts.
Please share your thoughts on the excerpt with me or sign up for updates on the book as it gets closer to release.
Thanks for your patience on the blog and your encouragement and support on the book as we embrace curiosity together (in all aspects of life)....
