Aside from some of the more foundational questions I have, here are some of the questions that are popping into my head along this journey that I want to know for myself! I'd love for you to drop a comment below with your question or head over to the contact page and ping me directly, if you prefer.
1) Babies are adorably obessed with their tongues. Stereotypically (right or wrong), tongue protrusion is a hallmark of Down syndrome. What's the connection to neuroscience?
2) It's been rumored that babies don't overeat. Is that true for babies with Down syndrome, when the myelination and cortical control are behind developmentally for other areas like crawling and talking?
3) How do we address ableism?
4) What is the neuroscience behind feeding (swallowing)? What neuroscience principles are the therapists working with?
5) How do we support the building of myelination?
6) What are some of the neurochallenges of childhood? How do hormones throw a wrench in everything during adolescent development?
7) Is there anything we can do in younger years to minimize the effect of Down syndrome on development of Alzheimer’s?
